As a trauma survivor, I tend to avoid myself like the plague. Feelings are, more often than not, something to flee.   This post helps me to  want to embrace them so I can continue healing.

  1. Van der Kolk explains how for trauma survivors the body becomes a place of pain and since we experience feelings in a body we take flight. Until we can face this world of sensation emotion and feeling we remain strangers to ourselves. ❤
